This year’s 18th Annual Art on the Avenue will be chaired by Mark Montgomery, Houston City President of BBVA Compass. It is a two-night event attended by some 1,000 Houstonians. It showcases the work of more than 250 local artists in a fine art silent auction with proceeds from art sales shared between the artists and Avenue CDC. We are
pleased to announce that this year Christine West, Executive Director of Lawndale Art Center, will be our guest curator. At the Preview Party on Thursday, November 13, 2014, guests will have a first look at the art for auction and an opportunity to bid and purchase art prior to the public event on Saturday, November 15th.

For more than five decades, Carlos Cruz-Diez (born 1923) has experimented intensively with the origins and optics of color. The MFAH and the Cruz-Diez Foundation presented the first large-scale retrospective of this pioneering Franco-Venezuelan artist in 2011 to critical acclaim. We are greatly honored that the Atelier Cruz-Diez and the Sicardi Gallery have donated this stunning piece to benefit the programs of Avenue CDC.
