Bastille Day in Houston
A Celebration of French Culture, Friendship, and Community
Houston
TFAA Board Members attended the the beautiful 2026 Bastille Day Consular reception. City, State Officials, Consular Corps and members of the French Texan communities gathered to celebrate the anniversary.
Special events included the newly inaugurated statue of Lafayette at the Houston Library and a very touching ceremony when ( please find him name I can’t remember) last living American Veteran Pilot from Texas who fought in the Second World War received the highest honor bestowed by France, La Legion d’Honneur.
Consul General Frank Marchetti gave a beautiful speech and pinned the medal the war hero. This award was given by the President of the French Republic, Emanuel Macron.
The reception was beautifully catered by Chef Jean Luc Royere and his talented Pastry Chef Oralia Perez from The Post Oak. Music was by Adrian Ponce of Ars Lyrica

We were delighted to join the Consulate General of France in Houston for a memorable Bastille Day celebration filled with French culture, music, dance, gastronomy, and meaningful connections.
A heartfelt thank you to the Consulate General of France in Houston for inviting TFAA to be part of this special event. This joyful afternoon and evening brought together French, Texan, and American communities to celebrate the enduring friendship between France, Texas, and the United States through the power of culture.
The celebration was also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the TFAA Cultural Passport, which was met with great enthusiasm by attendees. Many visitors stopped by our booth to discover the project, receive their passport, and learn how they can explore and support the vibrant French cultural community across Texas.
A special thank you to all the French organizations, cultural partners, and supporters who contribute to making the TFAA Cultural Passport a reality. Together, we are creating new ways to connect communities, highlight cultural events, and celebrate the richness of French culture in Texas.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Alliance Française de Houston and all the dedicated volunteers whose hard work and commitment made this celebration such a success.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this beautiful celebration of French culture and community. We look forward to seeing you at the next French cultural event!
