Step into the world of Gounod’s Faust with Houston Grand Opera!
We are delighted to collaborate with Houston Grand Opera and invite you to step into the fascinating world of Gounod’s Faust : a captivating journey back in time to Belle Époque Paris, where music, passion, temptation, and desire take center stage. In this dazzling, dance-infused production by visionary director David McVicar, Faust makes a fateful pact with Mephistopheles, trading his soul for youth and sensual pleasure. But when he falls for the pure-hearted Marguerite, his desire sets in motion a dramatic story of love, ruin, temptation, and redemption.
Set to one of the most beloved scores in French opera, Faust features unforgettable moments, from the diabolical “Song of the Golden Calf” to Marguerite’s sparkling “Jewel Song.”
The production brings together soprano Pretty Yende as Marguerite, tenor Matthew Polenzani as Faust, and bass-baritone Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Mephistopheles, with Giacomo Sagripanti conducting in his Houston Grand Opera debut.
